Andrea van Reimersdahl, who completed her MFA in painting with Katharina Grosse (Berlin Weissensee School of Art), works in the fields of painting, architecture, design, installation and textile art. She specializes in indoor and outdoor murals and screen printing in an abstract organic language.
In collaboration with architects and designers, I develop hand-printed curtains and room textiles in my abstract, organic design language. I am familiar with the material qualities of various textiles and have an infrastructure for the production of curtains and other room textiles.
I develop abstract murals with facade or emulsion paint and roller or brush. My paintings focus on the interplay of colors and shades in an organic language, which I develop from my shadow silhouette and which metaphorically stands for diversity. My designs are created digitally and a precise translation of the hard edge into soft contours is very important to me. I play with transparencies and overlays to create a sense of interconnectedness of all things.
