Mitsune is an all-female Shamisen trio based in Berlin, comprising members from Japan, Germany and Australia. The Shamisen is a unique, 3-stringed Japanese folk instrument. The women of Mitsune play an exciting mix of Japanese folk songs, virtuosic modern repertoire and original compositions.
Mitsune plays an exciting mix of Japanese traditional folk songs, virtuosic modern repertoire, and original compositions. They perform in full traditional Kimono or, if preferred, Haori (kimono overcoat) and black pants, smart casual or formal. Mitsune can expand on request to a 4 or 5-piece, with Japanese dance and/or percussion. Performance style and length cater to the client's needs – e.g. Full-length concert (60-90 mins), background music, or shorter sets spaced throughout your event.
